Monkeypox Information

Monkeypox has now been detected in hundreds or more patients in the Los Angeles area. Although early in the outbreak, Dr. Eshaghian has already treated patients with the current strain of Monkeypox, and is able to help if you feel you may have developed any symptoms.

  • It is a virus that causes you to get sick with fever, headache, and body-aches, followed by a rash.

    The illness can be very severe in some cases, such as in people who have immunodeficiency or are younger than age 8.

    It is contagious and can be passed from person-to-person.

  • Monkeypox is transmitted through close, personal, often skin-to-skin contact. This includes direct contact with monkeypox rash, scabs, or body fluids from a person with monkeypox (including sexually).

    It can also be spread by touching objects, fabrics (clothing, bedding, or towels), and surfaces that have been used by someone with monkeypox.

    Additionally, contact with respiratory secretions can also transmit the virus.
